Job description

Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineer

£43,026 - £50,491 plus excellent benefits
Additional Market Force Allowance of £3,000

Based at either Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes or King Charles Street, London.

£1,750 location allowance if based at Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes or £5,000 location allowance if based at King Charles Street and excellent benefits.

At FCDO Services, we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. At any given moment, we could be designing for a rewire to a centuries-old embassy in Europe; installing standby power systems for a site in Africa; or designing new HVAC for a government office building in Asia.

For a Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineer, that means immense challenge, regular overseas travel, and above all, a real need for someone who can bring a depth of experience as an M &/or E Engineer.

Based in London or Milton Keynes and travelling worldwide on a regular basis, you’ll be responsible for designing and management of a wide range of M&E projects on a global scale, up to the value of £10 million. Working within an established Engineering team that designs and installs through all the RIBA stages for our customers UK or Overseas.

Find variety to challenge even your knowledge.

If you’re a professional looking for a new challenge, you’ll find that here every day. You’ll have constant variety in the projects you work on, managing multiple projects around the world at any one time. Within those projects, you’ll find unusual requirements and conditions to test the limits of your expertise. Whether it’s designing equipment that can withstand 50°C heat; designing wiring for secure round-the-clock communications for a region with an unreliable power supply; or delivering smooth-running projects on some of the world’s most isolated islands, there’s never a dull moment. Throughout it all, you’ll be the go-to advisor for customers, stakeholders, and even our internal teams, from Architects to Surveyors to Structural Engineers. You’ll make every project run smoothly.

Bring expertise everyone can rely on

For this role, we need someone who can hit the ground running; who’s already got plenty of expertise to draw from, to help us deliver the best possible service to our customers. You’ll have an Engineering qualification. You’ll have experience in the field, ideally including overseas work. And you’ll have knowledge of legislation around your specialism – like Health and Safety regulation. When it comes to digital skills, you’ll be proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Plus, it would be even better if you have experience using specialist software, such as AutoCAD, IES and Amtech.
Just as importantly, you’ll be able to take all that expertise and use it to help others understand your projects, keeping customers and stakeholders engaged and informed at every point in even the most challenging work.

Feel real pride – and get real benefits too.

So, it’s fair to say that we expect a lot, but we’ll give you a lot back too. That starts with great benefits, including flexible/hybrid working, an on-site nursery, a Civil Service pension, overtime and more. And finally, most importantly, there’s that sense of purpose you’ll feel. With new challenges for even the most seasoned engineer; travel to places most people will never go; and impact that protects the nation, there’s one thing for sure: this is your job – bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you’ll need to go through Developed Vetting (DV). You can find out more about this process on our website.
