Job description

As a Marine Licensing Case Manager, you will contribute to the operational and strategic delivery of marine licensing, ministerial and business objectives.  You will work in either the Service Delivery or Strategic Licensing team and the specific role will be dependent on experience and where there are existing vacancies.

You will promote sustainable development by regulating activities through case officers or work to deliver the licensing strategic goals by following processes and documenting evidence using the online systems.  This will include managing licensing applications within our marine area and working with Defra and other delivery partners towards MMO strategic aims. This will also include offering technical support and delivering and producing training materials.  In both work areas you will be expected to develop and maintain relationships with applicants and stakeholders and ensuring effective account management including proactive communications. This will also include preparing briefings for management and government departments.

You will attend virtual meetings, teleconferences and will have the option to attend face-to-face meetings where it is safe to do so.  You may be required to attend public inquiries and hearings into nationally significant infrastructure projects.

The Strategic Licensing Team supports the marine licensing team in a number of key areas as well as being responsible for the Harbour Orders Sector and Business Support Team. The team provides advice and support on the most complex and contentious cases, oversees and plans the training framework for the wider team, leads on external engagement with other government departments and liaison with other non government organisations.

The Business support team supports the work of Marine Licensing team through validation of marine licences, management of the time recording system, managing the workflow of the wider team through complex spreadsheets and trackers and assist in the supporting of applicants and stakeholders, and the production of management information.

You will have a passion for the marine sector and be able to develop the skills needed to fulfil the role. You will understand the importance of the regulatory process and the position of the MMO as a regulator, and effectively deliver fair, open and transparent decision making.
