We’re looking for an exceptional Lead Performance Analyst to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Lead Performance Analyst, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share.  Our people are at the heart of what we do and we'll do our best to agree a working pattern that works for everyone.

Job description

Your world of expertise

As the Lead Performance Analyst within the Plans and Performance Team you will be responsible for leading development and production of compelling reports and dashboards that allow key decision makers to understand what's happening in the organisation and make informed decisions. 

You will be an expert by nature, passionate about getting hold of the best management information possible, understanding its strengths and weaknesses and using it to highlight organisational performance. You will also have the opportunity to lead a community of practice of like-minded colleagues, working to evolve and improve the Met Office's use of business intelligence.

You will coordinate development of the Met Office's Key Performance Indicators, working with senior stakeholders across the organisation to develop a suite of metrics to measure delivery of our world-leading science, technology and operations as well as our key change initiatives, reporting against delivery of those KPIs on a regular basis.

Your key duties

  • Design, develop and evolve executive and senior management level reports and dashboards using a comprehensive suite of metrics to measure the performance of the Met Office.
  • Lead development of the Met Office's Key Performance Indicators and ensure progress against these is monitored and reported effectively.
  • Lead a cross-office community of practice to ensure consistency of reporting and work to improve accessibility and intelligent use of management information across the Met Office
  • Be an expert in the use of PowerBI and the wider Microsoft Power Platform, using those skills in your day-to-day role as well as mentoring and coaching others in the Met Office.

Person specification

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

  1. You will be an expert in the use of PowerBI, and the wider Microsoft Power Platform, or alternative software - able to develop reports and dashboards using a complex suite of management information to highlight key trends and indicators to senior decision makers.
  2. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work with senior stakeholders to create, develop and monitor delivery of a comprehensive set of Key Performance Indicators for an organisation or significant department.
  3. You can demonstrate the ability to keep evolving the maturity of the use of business intelligence at all levels within an organisation, able to coach and mentor others.
  4. You are seen to live and breathe your passion and in-depth understanding of the reports and dashboards you produce, able to evidence your ability to communicate and present information at all levels but particularly to senior stakeholders, often directly influencing the decisions made.
