This is not a traditional project management role, we’re looking for an outstanding Lead Agile Delivery Manager. You will have substantial recent experience of delivering software in an agile environment, to lead those who lead and enable multi-disciplinary teams.

Job description

The Lead Agile Delivery Manager is an experienced agile practitioner who exemplifies what good looks like across the delivery roles.

You’ll act as a servant-leader and will work with and guide cross-functional teams, managing programmes and ensuring they are commercially viable and deliver value. They have experience of developing delivery roadmaps, digital strategy, solutions, software engineering, business operational process design, user research, user experience design and aspects of policy development to help manage and set the pace for delivery.

You will help drive and establish the vision and the strategic delivery roadmap working with the most senior stakeholders. They will ensure funding for their projects/programmes and help establish effective and appropriate governance across all projects in the practice.

You will act as a mentor and an expert on agile best practices both internally and externally and help establish a network of agile delivery managers across government departments to share knowledge and best practices.

You'll be a true leader who serves, steering from the front. You'll remove blockers and create the right environment for your multidisciplinary teams to succeed, helping them to self-sufficiency and creating a culture of learning and transparency.

  • Exemplary leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate high performing teams.
  • Being an agile advocate, coaching and leading teams in agile practices and principles.
  • Having a proactive approach to developing capability in the organisation.
  • Creating a culture of healthy, psychologically safe, innovative, sustainable teams.
  • Experience of procuring and managing external suppliers, driving value and performance to achieve outcomes.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £69,869 to £89,995.

The maximum salary for the grade is £77,740 however a Digital Allowance of up to £12,255 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Location

Applicants should apply for suitable posts where they can travel to and from their home office location daily within a reasonable time.   

Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Relocation costs will not be reimbursed 

Hybrid Working

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.  This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Stage 1: Application

Stage 2: Interview

If you’re successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the experiences listed in the essential criteria.

To help you prepare and settle into the interview you will be sent the experience questions in advance. This will be 5 days prior to your interview. These questions should be treated as confidential and should not be shared. The interview panel may ask you other questions which will not be shared in advance, including follow-up questions.

Interviews will take place from Mid January.
