This role will be based in Old Admiralty Building, London. You will be required to attend the office five days a week (Monday to Friday) and may occasionally be required to travel to other DBT Offices.

Job description

We are expanding our DDaT team to keep up with the rapidly changing world. This role reports to the IT Operations Service Stability Engineer (SSE), providing the direct link between DBT and its supply partners to ensure that our interests are actioned as we require and that we maintain control. This ensures that stakeholders are kept informed of major incidents and problems threatening the DBT estate.   As an IT Operations Technical Engineer, you will be working closely with the SSE along with the rest of DDaT to provide IT services to allow DBT to deliver technical projects.   

About you   

You will be required to have, or develop at pace, an understanding of the DBT infrastructure, IT Operational Services (AV and Support Services), Security and User Support Services. You will need to be able to take instructions, demonstrate a self-motivated approach, and effectively communicate with users at all levels.    

Main responsibilities    

You will be:  

  • Working independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.  
  • Assisting the SSE to troubleshoot and identify incidents.  
  • Working with relevant teams to resolve emerging and recurring problems.  
  • Helping to manage problems through to resolution.  
  • Gap filling areas in IT Operations Services where technical skills are required to maintain IT Operational Services.  
  • Assisting in IT Operations projects.  
  • Assisting and providing support to IT Operations Services teammates.  
  • A Technical engineer across IT Operation services for escalations

It is essential that you have:     

  • Continual service improvement. You can analyse current processes and identify and implement opportunities to optimise them. Be part of a team that delivers service improvements. You can help to evaluate and establish requirements for the implementation of changes by setting policy and standards. 
  • Incident management. Assist with the investigation and resolution of incidents. 
  • Ownership and initiative. You can take accountability for issues that occur and be proactive in searching for potential problems. You can achieve excellent user outcomes. 
  • Problem management. Help team to investigate, resolve and anticipate problems. You can co-ordinate with the team to investigate problems, implement solutions and take preventive measures. 
  • Technical knowledge. Good grasp of networking, cloud, project management and security concepts to help with project delivery. Good to have administration experience of Workspace One. 
  • Experience. Strong technical experience in Windows, Macs, Virtual platforms and mobile devices

How we offer  

Offers may be made in merit order based on location preferences. If you pass the bar at interview but are not the highest scoring you will be held on a 12-month reserve list in case a role becomes available. If you are judged a near miss at interview, you may be offered a post at the grade below the one you applied for.
