Job summary

Summer intern programme – Starting 1st July

You will undertake a single placement in the Economics, Finance and Markets Directorate working specifically in the Competition team.

Commencing 1 July 2024, this development programme runs for 8 weeks until 23 August, and is packed with a variety of opportunities, designed to provide you with first-hand experience of our sector. Your programme will offer you hands-on experience with the Competition team. By working on live projects and activities, you will gain a broad grounding of what drives our organisation and what we deliver. 

During this summer placement, you will gain meaningful and valuable work experience which will support you in your ongoing career journey.

You’ll be set clear objectives at the start of your placement and will complete mid placement and end of placement reviews with your placement manager.

Job description

The role

ORR offers you the opportunity to work within its Competition Team.

ORR Serves as the concurrent competition authority for the rail sector, wielding enforcement powers against anticompetitive behaviour and conducting market studies to identify potential competition issues. It holds these powers concurrently with the Competition and Markets Authority.

Specifically, within the Competition Team, the Internship offers an exciting avenue to contribute significantly to ORR's mission and objectives. As an Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting the team and collaborating with multi-disciplinary members (Economics, Legal, Policy).

Your responsibilities will involve providing assistance on different cases and projects, ranging from market studies, investigations, and enforcement of competition law.
