Application process

At interview stage there will be a written exercise and a panel interview which will be based on the strengths and behaviours.

We support flexible working and most MoJ employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.  If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.   

Clearance level – please note that these roles require SC clearance which would normally require 5 years’ UK residency in the past 5 years. This is not an absolute requirement, but supplementary checks may be required for individuals who have not lived in the UK for the required period. About the role   

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most successful campaign teams in government and play your part in our work to promote the UK’s legal services around the world. 

You will play a role in developing and delivering outstanding communications both in the UK and in a variety of international markets (our recent projects have included activity in East Africa, France, Singapore and the USA). 

This is a chance for a talented communications professional to work on our high-profile GREAT Legal Services campaign, part of the UK Government’s flagship international marketing campaign “GREAT”.

The campaign supports delivery of one of MoJ’s priority objectives - to boost the role of the justice system and legal services in contributing to UK prosperity.

Job description 

As International Campaigns Advisor, you will support development and delivery of top quality communications to drive awareness of, and engagement with, the UK’s world class legal systems and expert professionals. 

You will work with a range of stakeholders, including legal professionals, other government departments and UK embassies, and help to deliver insight and evidence-based programmes which support UK exports. 

You will produce written and social media content and be organised and adaptable to co-ordinate in-person events. You will work with senior internal and external stakeholders. 

You would be expected to travel with the team to conduct campaign activity in UK regions and internationally. 

The role is ideal for a dynamic and creative communicator who is passionate about delivering first class communications and campaigns and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. 

You will report to the Senior International Campaigns Advisor.  

Key responsibilities 

•    Support planning and implementation of detailed insight-led communication campaigns   
•    Manage work to deadline, focusing on delivering campaign objectives  
•    Work with the Head of International Campaigns and Senior International Campaigns Advisors to partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver communications 
•    Support delivery of events in UK and internationally    
•    Produce high quality written content for external communications channels, including social media, and work with international, regional and consumer media to deliver stories that extend our reach to new audiences  
•    Identify risks and opportunities for our communications and within stakeholder relationships  
•    Work with other team members to evaluate and report campaign progress and outcomes and embed learning into ongoing work 
•    Champion our work across government, collaborating and building relationships with colleagues across the MoJ, other government departments, external organisations, firms and stakeholders, and colleagues in embassies and regional hubs around the world. 

Skills, experience and attributes 

•    Adaptable, collaborative and strong team player able to work at pace 
•    Great communication skills and experience of producing content for a variety of channels  
•    Strong written skills and the ability to get to grips with complex issues  
•    Creativity and keenness to develop and deliver innovative, low and no cost external communication campaigns, using digital and offline channels  
•    Proactive, with good organisational and planning skills 
•    Able to develop good working relationships inside and outside government. 
•    Understanding of insight, data and evaluation to measure and inform communications outcomes and a keenness to act on results to improve future activity  
•    Confident presenting and giving advice to senior stakeholders 
•    Experience of producing content for a variety of media outlets and digital platforms 
•    Enthusiasm for working internationally

- Review existing sources of insight (including previous communication activity) to understand the overall context for communication and audience influences/influencers. 
- Use data and insight to identify target audiences and partners, support decision making and help inform the overall communication approach. 
- Demonstrate an understanding of the communication objectives and how these support the overall policy objective.

Ideas 

- Develop outline communication plans, identifying the most effective channels and tools to engage audiences and maximise reach. 
- Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages suitable for use across a range of channels. 
- Demonstrate an awareness of how channels work together and complement each other. 
- Explore opportunities to use low/no cost channels, including earned, owned, and paid-for channels.

Implementation 

- Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills. Write clearly, concisely and accurately. 
- Select appropriate visuals to improve the impact of communication plans are delivered on time and to budget. 
- Monitor plans and provide status updates to ensure communication plans are delivered on time and to budget.

Impact 

- Support the design and delivery of techniques to assess the effectiveness and impact of communication.  
- Advise on, monitor, summarise and provide analysis of campaign effectiveness indicators.
