About the job

Job summary

Are you a Security Architect/Engineer who wants to apply their skills in a high-tech organisation which produces bespoke and unique products across a wide range of technologies?

You’ll apply your versatile approach and problem-solving skills across a range of technologies from desktop, virtualisation technologies (VMWare, Hyper-v etc), Windows/Linux infrastructure and networking through to the cloud. The work will be a mix of hands-on engineering, consulting to help shape our current and future architecture, advising other engineering teams on how to work securely and investigations.

You will use your skills and experience to help HMGCC’s Information Security Team protect the sophisticated engineering solutions developed by the organisation.

The Information Security Team is a small but high-performing team which works closely with the IT teams and engineering development teams to ensure the technical protections around the organisation’s work are effective yet support the business strategy.

You will get involved in a range of activities from the engineering of security solutions, technical investigation of security incidents, providing technical security advice through to assessing the technical risks in new technologies.

The work is varied and often changes direction unexpectedly.  You’ll enjoy an environment where you often respond reactively to unexpected challenges at short notice.  You will have the opportunity to acquire new technical skills.  You will also be able to collaborate with other subject matter experts to further broaden your knowledge.  We also offer a flexible and generous training package.
