Job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Supporting the process to restore normal service operation as quickly as possible to minimise the impact to business operation.
  • Ensuring and driving adherence to Incident Management process, procedures, and policies amongst all delivery teams.
  • Assisting and managing Major Incidents whilst engaging with resolvers to enable communications to be sent out at agreed timescales.
  • Communicating with all stakeholders regarding P1 & P2 incidents within the agreed KPI’s, ensuring that communications are clear, precise, and not too technical.
  • Applying a systematic problem-solving approach to gather needed information, evaluating alternatives, developing contingencies, and prioritising actions.
  • Identifying potential problems and/or increasing trend of repetitive incidents.
  • Analysing large datasets, drawing valid conclusions to present to the Incident Management Lead on all Incidents and Interactions.
  • Occasional support to our IT service desk taking phone calls and live chats when needed.

Additional information

We welcome all applicants, however due to the nature of the role you would be required to work on a rota basis which covers Monday - Friday (excluding England bank holidays) and includes the core operational hours of 7:30 – 18:00. Shift times are 07:30 – 15:15 and 10:00 – 18:00, with an additional member working 08:00 – 16:00.

This role can be based in Bristol/Swansea/Nottingham/Newcastle, your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. We operate a hybrid working model giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work. Our expectation is that you will spend a minimum 60% of your time at your base location. Visits to other DVSA sites or work locations count towards this.

Person specification

We are looking for someone experienced in incident analysis and major incident management, assisting in the implementation of preventative measures, process improvement and effective solutions, with the ability to notice and perceive things clearly and accurately.

You work with confidence and are self-motivated, and a team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision when required.

You are skilled at problem solving in a landscape made up of complex services, and can work collaboratively with others to reach a solution.

You have strong stakeholder management skills and effective written and verbal communication.

Selection process details

Interviews are likely to be held week commencing 22 July 2024.

This interview could be conducted via a video interview, details of which will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.
