About the job

Job summary

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is a non-ministerial department of over 1600 people. We play a critical role in protecting public health and consumers’ wider interests in food across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

We are a small government department with a big mission: to keep food safe, ensure that it is what it says it is, and that it is increasingly healthy and more sustainable. Our expert science, evidence and research underpins and supports the FSA’s work, including risk assessment, risk management and delivery processes for controls on food hygiene, animal feed, foodborne diseases.

We are looking for an Impact and Evaluation Coordinator who can help us ensure that the science we undertake at the FSA connects with every part of our organisation and its work. You’ll work to build the visibility and influence our science offers both internally and externally, helping us to make a real and data-led difference to the food we eat.

The Civil Service is committed to attract, retain and invest in talent wherever it is found. To learn more please see the Civil Service People Plan and the Civil Service D&I Strategy.

Job description

From alternative proteins to organisms produced by precision breeding, the FSA’s work touches on the most relevant and pressing issues in the industry and demands research that can keep up with fast-moving developments. You will develop and manage initiatives to monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of FSA Science. This work will help us to collect the right data to develop compelling, scientifically robust narratives, and work with the Research Engagement and Partnerships coordinator to foster engagement with our work.

Communication sits at the heart of this role, whether you are developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, or driving the integration of science across the FSA. Your work will break down silos and improve the influence and impact of our science, ensuring it is communicated effectively and available to others who can share it or add further value.

If you are excited about the impact science can have on the everyday lives of consumers across the country and want to support the FSA as we strive to deliver ‘food you can trust’, this is an opportunity to make a real difference.
