CFI teams are committed to tackling organised immigration crime and taking a balanced approach to volume crime. This work is supported by a small team of administrative and operational support staff. 

As one of two Higher Executive Officers within the South East CFI Business Support Unit, you will work closely with the Senior Business Support Manager to coordinate activity and manage business support across the South East and Europe command. This is an opportunity to work in a varied role, dealing with a wide range of tasks and partners at all levels, within and outside the organisation. The role would suit a highly organised team player, who is flexible, is able to work on their own initiative, is capable of exercising discretion, with good communication skills and who is able to work when necessary to tight deadlines. 

The post provides a good opportunity to work in a high profile role and will involve providing support for tasking within the South East and Europe Command, support for national CFI meetings as well as specific support for specific portfolio/project work. 

You will be expected to work closely with regional crime team support officers, regional managers, senior managers, the central CFI Private Office and other key stakeholders across the UK. It is a good opportunity to work on a wide range of strategic issues as well as more routine day to day matters. It would suit an officer who is interested in gaining experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders.

Please note that due to the nature of the work and the geographical area, travel by official vehicle will be inevitable and applicants must hold a valid full UK manual driving licence.

Please also note that there is no shift working requirement, and therefore no AHW/AHA allowance available for this role.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:  

  • Overseeing management and maintenance of the official fleet vehicles and usage of hire cars.
  • Health and safety manager for the SE CFI team including maintaining and testing Business Continuity Plans as required.
  • Security liaison officer for SE CFI.
  • CFI representative for DPC site stakeholder meetings.
  • Leading on CFI accommodation/IT issues ensuring equipment is fit for purpose and that the office is sufficiently equipped with stationary etc.  
  • Overseeing management of seized vehicles stored at Dover Old Park Barracks.
  • Ensuring MI complies with information management best practice and data protection rules.
  • Identifying opportunities to stream line processes, identify efficiencies and best practice.
  • Overseeing and ensuring the effective management of the assets within the Command.
  • Monitoring and quality assuring any procurement process across the commands to ensure compliance with budgetary and commercial guidelines including effective management of Government Procurement Cards.
  • Supporting Performance Meetings etc as appropriate through recording, distribution and monitoring of accurate minutes/actions.
  • Collating and preparing MI in response to ad hoc requests by senior managers in response to strategic issues.
  • Monitoring and promoting case management best practice and data quality.
  • Acting as the point of contact for business support enquiries with the CFI Private Office.
  • Acting as Property Manager for South East CFI team ensuring guidance and policies are adhered to.
  • Line management responsibilities for a team of four Executive Officers.

There will be occasions where travel both within and outside the region may be required to attend meetings, as well as a requirement on occasions to work flexibly to meet tight deadlines.

Essential Criteria

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities within a fast-paced environment.

  • The ability to work autonomously when required.
  • Possession of excellent IT skills, specifically in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and SharePoint.

Selection process details

The sift will be held on the behaviour (Making Effective Decisions) and the statement of suitability (personal statement).

The statement of suitability will be scored first for all candidates. Those candidates who achieve the minimum pass score for the statement of suitability, will progress to a further sift where the behaviour (Making Effective Decisions) will be scored. These candidates will therefore receive a sift score for both elements. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum pass score for the statement of suitability will not have their behaviour (Making Effective Decisions) scored and will therefore only receive a sift score for the statement of suitability.

However, if a large number of applications are received, the sift will be conducted on the statement of suitability only.

If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview which will be behaviour-based questions on all listed behaviours.

Sift and Interview dates

Part time working

Flexible working
