Job summary

The SIA have a statutory responsibility to license Individual security operatives, as well as operating a voluntary scheme for organisations who supply such operatives.

To equip the inspections and enforcement directorate with the most relevant skills we are seeking an operational trainer to deliver PIP and IPP training to its staff.  The trainer will also be responsible for the coordination and oversight of the delivery of a range of existing I&E training requirements to ensure that the learning objectives are achieved and training is continuously developed to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

We are looking for an experienced and competent trainer with a track record of PIP and IPP delivery.  We require someone who is not just looking for a training role but someone that can take a wider view of the organisation to develop further learning materials, take an active role in staff development and be a point of contact for staff to increase their knowledge.  The ability to develop and learning material and provide a feedback function is a must.

Person specification

What you will be doing:

  • To be responsible for the successful introduction, roll out and development of the College of Policing Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) and Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) programmes within the I&E directorate.
  • To coordinate and oversee the delivery of a range of existing I&E training requirements to ensure that the learning objectives are achieved and training is continuously developed to meet the changing needs of the organisation.
  • To manage the continuous professional development (CPD) requirements of I&E staff
  • To assist with the design and delivery of any newly identified training programmes to meet identified needs within the workforce.
  • To act as subject matter expert for the delivery of College of Policing or other training and development products, advising Heads of Function on the suitability or otherwise of existing or future training requirement.
  • To design and produce clear, concise and well-presented training support material, for use, before, during and after training.
  • To offer appropriate guidance and expertise to I&E staff, in order to facilitate their personal development.
  • To liaise and consult with other colleagues, both internally and externally, in order to identify a variety of training solutions for the organisation.
  • To undertake continuous assessment/validation/evaluation of I&E training programmes, ensuring that they are appropriate to the needs of individuals, the organisation and are of a consistently high standard.
  • To maintain and develop personal skills and knowledge to ensure currency of training and development initiatives

 

 

What skills are we looking for?

  • Hold the Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development qualification or equivalent.

 

  • In depth knowledge of College of Policing PIP and IPP curriculum

 

  • Proven understanding of the training process (including learner needs analysis and evaluation)

 

  • Experience in the delivery of classroom-based training and associated continuous professional development.

 

It would be great if you have experience in these areas:

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.

 

  • Experience in successfully managing, motivating, leading and developing others

 

  • Able to engage with a variety of audiences through a range of media to inform and persuade

 

  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to quickly establish effective relationships with staff and stakeholders
