Job description

Imagine getting paid to gain new skills that will serve you throughout your career. As an Associate Cloud Infrastructure Operations Engineer Industrial Placement, you will earn while you learn and make a real impact.

You will become part of the Government Digital and Data profession. You will work within an established team, supporting other infrastructure operations engineers in their daily work.

Due to Business need 3 of the 5 roles will be required to be based in Stratford while only 2 roles can be offered between Stratford, Leeds & Newcastle.

In this role you will have knowledge or work towards learning how to:

- Identify and register incidents, gathering the required information and allocating it to the appropriate channel.
- Investigate problems in systems, processes and services – contribute to the implementation of solving the problems.
- Show an awareness or understanding of user experience analysis and its principles.
- Identify and engage with users or stakeholders to collate user needs evidence.
- Manage service components to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets.
- Implement changes based on requests for change and apply change control procedures.
- Maintain secure configuration and accurate information, controlling IT assets in one or more significant areas.

- Show an awareness of the scripting tools and software that are available and currently in use.
- Have a understanding of how IT systems are designed and work – Networking, Identity, and Infrastructure and how they’re connected to deliver business services.

- Experience of AWS and Azure and some evidence of using these environments for your Degree work.
- Base knowledge of Git workflow and code release principles, as well as an understanding of Linux and Window environment.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and how they are applied to corporate IT systems – Incident, Problem, Change & Event Management.

Eligibility Criteria

- You must be in the penultimate year of your degree course currently studying full time.
- You must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of your placement. We can not obtain this for you.
- Studying towards an IT related degree.
- Master Students ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY

If you are successful, your placement will start in early September 2024 and this will be for a minimum of 9 months. We can not accept placements any earlier than this.

We can not accept graduates or students who are graduating imminently – these roles are reserved for sandwich placement students only who will join us on a full time basis only.

Essential Criteria: 

We are looking for an industrial placement who is:

- Analytical, self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
