Building a state-of-the-art embassy in Bangkok. Delivering a global seismic survey. Completing a highly secure construction project for the MOD. This is the kind of work you’ll ensure we deliver safely, as our new Head of Operational Health & Safety at FCDO Services. If you’re an experienced H&S practitioner - this could be your next step.

Lead and influence our forward direction

Impact every area of our organisation in a senior role that’s dynamic, challenging and exciting. Stretch your technical, leadership and management skills with diverse H&S risks on a global scale. Take your safety knowledge and capabilities to the next level across logistics, construction and data centres, impacting people, products and services. With our dedicated Health and Safety Team you will influence and advise to ensure we are safe by choice.

Job description

You’ll be on the senior leadership team for HSSEQ (health and safety, security, sustainability and environment, business continuity, and quality and assurance), where you’ll design and deliver our Health & Safety Strategy and Policy, both in the UK and overseas. You’ll ensure our corporate governance arrangements meet statutory and regulatory requirements. Building effective relationships and driving continual improvement, you’ll make sure we always deliver for our government-level customers.

Bring the expertise we’re looking for

You’re a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Health & Safety, with a NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) Diploma or equivalent. You’ve already delivered effective safety management across a diverse platform, possibly worldwide and managed a team of health and safety professionals. You also have a track record of designing, achieving and monitoring performance.

You have strong communication, influencing and presentation skills. When it comes representing FCDO Services to external agencies and government partners, you’re able to make a personal impact and build credibility. Crucially, you bring the imagination and curiosity to address both the big picture and smaller issues.

Supporting your wellbeing with the right benefits

Join us and you’ll help protect the nation’s interests at home and overseas. How will we support you in return? We offer a competitive salary, 25-30 days’ annual leave per year (depending on length of service) and a generous Civil Service pension. We also invest in our people, so we’ll give you access to training and other development opportunities to help advance your career.

Our offices have an onsite gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Depending on business need, you’ll also have the option to work from home some days.
