Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Knowledge and Information Management in our Digital and Technology Group (D&T).

This is a full- time, permanent opportunity*. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU/South Mimms, Hertfordshire/or Remote Working**.

 

Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a 20% of time spent working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Time spent in the office is increasing over the coming year, with an expectation that it will rise to up to 60% of working hours by summer 2024.

The Digital and Technology Group (D&T) is responsible for making sure that our scientists, inspectors and all of our staff have the tools and data they need to deliver the very best services they can to improve outcomes for patients and the general public. The Group was essential in the race to approve COVID-19 vaccines in 2020 and in supporting the UK to set up its own medicines and devices approvals systems following our exit from the EU. The Information Security and Governance team within the Digital Enablement function is responsible for Cyber Security as well as setting the MHRA’s standards and frameworks for our management and use of data and information, ensuring that the Agency can access the data it needs when it needs it and draw maximum insight from the data it holds in a safe and secure way.

Job description

What’s the role?

The Head of Knowledge and Information Management develops, implements, and continually reviews and refines the organisation’s information governance, including its information management policies and processes to promote best practice and maintain compliance with statutory obligations.

Your role as Departmental Records Officer will include working with the Senior Information Risk Owner and Data Protection Officer to make risk-based decisions on strategic and tactical issues, working with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have experience of using, evaluating and exploiting knowledge and information, including identifying opportunities in cases where Knowledge and Information Management is a key stakeholder.

You should have experience of acquiring, managing, and organising knowledge and information, including developing appropriate information management lifecycle policies and strategies in line with the relevant legal and policy framework.

You should have a track record of strong information governance, balancing and mitigating different information management risks in accordance with organisational approaches and strategies.

You will be a confident communicator with a track record of building and maintaining a network of colleagues, working across different teams and supply chains, using strong interpersonal relationships to influence and lead others.
