Job summary

Kew Gardens holds one of the most diverse collections of living plants in the world. Among the most valuable of these are the glasshouse collections contained within Kew’s conservatories and glasshouses.  These plant collections play an essential part in delivering RBG Kew’s research, conservation and visitor engagement objectives.

The Head of Glasshouse Collections is responsible for overseeing all aspects of management and development of the display and conservation glasshouses. This includes leading a diverse team of botanical horticulturists engaged in caring for the collections, as well as maintaining meticulous standards of plant records and curation. The role also includes planning and monitoring budgets and maintaining standards of health and safety and environmental management.

Kew’s display glasshouses, including the Palm House and Temperate House, are iconic features within the World Heritage Site landscape. Over the next few years, the Palm House will undergo a major renovation. This role will play an essential part in the project by helping to coordinate horticultural with capital works elements.
