Job summary

The Head of the Capability and Rostering Team (CRT) supports the Chief Inspector SPO Force Control and CRT in delivering operational support to the Force within the Superintendent Ops Support area of TC&S providing services to both TC&S and Nuclear and Marine Commands. The role requires flexibility in approach, taking appropriate action to ensure the CRT operates effectively and delivers key outputs regarding rostering of Police Officers and staff and training records management.

Line management responsibilities of a team of police & civilian personnel. Responsible for ensuring accurate records are maintained of all staffs training & qualifications aligned to role profiles, together with publication of staff duties, in accordance with PRGs. Ensuring efficient and intelligent use of Chronicle & GRS software applications in compliance with COP Licence requirements, MDP Policy & SOPs and MoD PRGs enabling MDP capability & availability to be accurately reported. Lead in the formulation of policy, strategy, and change initiatives through development of close working relationships with operational stations, internal departments, and contractors, chairing working groups and representing CRT at meetings and policy groups.

Job description

The appropriate supervision and management of the Roster Management cell and Chronicle team would impact upon the Force outputs. Inefficient rostering of Police officer’s impacts upon operational Policing outputs. Chronicle provides a number of records for the Force including Firearms records. The inefficient management of Chronicle outputs could impact upon the College of Policing criteria mandated for the Force to achieve its Firearms outputs and to retain its Firearms License issued by COP.  This post will be pivotal in the Force’s transition to Demetrio. Data Transition and security will be key elements of this transition and the appropriate management and supervision of this change will be vital. 

Management of external contractual suppliers has been affected by not having this post. This will in turn impact upon customer relations with key suppliers

Person specification

Candidates should have experience of managing personnel.

Further to this experience in operating and managing data across IT platforms is essential.

The suitable candidate will be highly motivated have experience in managing customer relationships with external providers and suppliers.

The candidate will be required to complete Security vetting.

Experience of working within a Police/Government department would be desirable.
