Job summary

The Head of Finance Business Partnering (Corporate) role is an exciting and challenging leadership role at the heart of the Agency’s finance function.

As part of a maturing Finance Business Partnering Function, the role requires a blend of technical knowledge, strategic insight, commercial acumen and an understanding of the Agency's financial risks and opportunities to become a trusted advisor, acting as a translator between the business and Finance and ensuring finance is at the heart of decision making. 

You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Strategic Finance and Finance Business Partnering and the wider Strategic Finance and Business Patterning Team, the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Finance Director, Strategy Director and their senior teams and with our sponsor Department.

Job description

Whilst our day job is to deliver a first class service to a wide range of stakeholders, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.

You'll be comfortable supporting the Assistant Director Strategic Finance and Business Partnering with multiple and varied budget management issues on an ongoing basis. As an experienced finance professional you will be, well-versed in the complexities of UK Government finance and be able to operate as an effective translator between the business and Finance with a foot in both camps.

Providing the necessary advice and challenge won’t always been easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an Agency and Finance’s role in supporting delivery. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

As someone with a track record of managing teams, you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.

Person specification

Prospective applicants will need to:

  • hold a full CCAB qualified or be able to demonstrate a clear and tangible commitment to obtaining a full chartered accountancy qualification;
  • have experience of working in a finance business partnering capacity within a large and or complex organisation;
  • have a good understanding of the complexities of Government budgeting and accounting rules;
  • have a proven track record of providing advice and challenge leading to better decision-making;
  • be able to influence at the highest levels;
  • have the ability to find a way through complex problems;
  • have experience of providing strategic, commercial and financial advice and challenge;
  • be comfortable operating at pace and in ambiguity; and
  • have a proven track record of building, leading and maintaining high performing, inclusive teams.

 

Prospective applications should ideally:

  • have experience of working in Central Government or an ALB
  • have experience of working on/supporting large scale change and/or digital initiatives
