Job summary

The Band D Governance & Secretariat Officer role is pivotal to the delivery of high-level decision making in the SFO. You will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s governance structure receives high-level support and that it operates efficiently, effectively, transparently and with integrity. In this fascinating position you will work with staff across all disciplines within the SFO, and be part of the Private Office and broader Strategy Group teams. You will be provided with a training programme and be built-up to represent best practice in governance and assurance.

The role, which offers you privileged access to the highest levels of decision-making in the organisation, sits within Strategy Group. You will need to maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion. It will suit anyone seeking to find out more about the running of the SFO and the law enforcement field, and those wishing to develop their skills in a supportive environment. 

Job description

As a Governance and Secretariat Officer, you will:

  • Provide efficient and effective secretariat support to the top tier of organisational committees;
  • Create a rolling twelve month Forward Look of both internal and external committee dates:
  • Create a Forward Look of Committee items for discussion throughout the year, ensuring alignment of activity across committees;
  • Manage and provide high quality support to various Boards and Committees including practical arrangements for meetings, maintain a forward plan of key agenda items, liaising with the Chair to prepare agendas and commission briefs.
  • Drafting accurate and concise minutes within agreed timeframes.
  • Actions from meetings will be correctly recorded and followed up to ensure that issues raised are appropriately tracked and concluded.
