Job description

Make a real difference to the success of the UK’s overseas missions

When you join us in this important role you’ll be pivotal to the success of our Programme to deliver impact through Regional Services Project Delivery Goals. Key tasks will include drawing on all your construction and project management subject matter expertise as you exude credibility to bring people together and build capability and great stakeholder relationships to deliver tangible results. You’ll be making a real difference to the UK’s overseas interests as you make buildings safer for our diplomatic staff, work that is complex, challenging and highly rewarding.

Manage and coach your team as you encourage innovation and increase efficiencies

Key to your success will be your ability to encourage innovation and a culture of continuous improvement as you drive excellence and provide highly visible, positive leadership for your geographically dispersed team of project professionals. Always ready to support staff at all levels and manage the risks, opportunities, dependencies and issues we face, we’ll expect you to develop and coach your colleagues in the principles and techniques of successful project and construction management. You’ll also identify ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs, ensure projects are delivered in line with our governance framework, and assure our customers that we can meet their needs successfully.

Use all your knowledge and expertise as you help to defend and protect our nation

An inspirational team and programme leader with superb communication and interpersonal abilities, you’ll possess well developed stakeholder management skills and plenty of project delivery experience. When it comes to qualifications, we’ll expect you to hold either  PRINCE2, APM PMQ, or MSP Practitioner, and possess practical experience of applied project management methodologies relating to the design, development and implementation of multi-disciplinary construction projects. You should be a member of the RICS, CIOB, CIWFM or an equivalent professional organisation, and in addition to relevant Health and Safety knowledge, you’ll have good IT skills including experience of data analysis and of using MS Project or an equivalent project planning tool.

Grow your career in the biggest way possible

When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas – but how will we help you in return? As well as a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service pension, we’ll also support your development with training opportunities to help you advance your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It’s a superb package of benefits as you help to increase the safety and security of our buildings and staff around the world.

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you’ll need to undergo a vetting process if successful in your application. You can find out more about vetting on our careers website.
