Job summary

If you’re motivated, curious, and looking to take an exciting next step in your career, we are looking for five motivated and talented people to join our busy and friendly Land Mapping team at the Rural Payments and Inspections Division.

 

The role of the Geospatial Technician falls within the operational delivery element of the Land Mapping Team. They are responsible for updating and maintaining geospatial data to enable accurate payments and subsidies for £650m towards rural support and development.

 

They also provide a resource enabling the Rural Payments and Inspections Division (RPID) to adapt to a surge of tasking through the year and implement changes when delivered by organisational design and development work and the agricultural reform programme.

Job description

• Maintenance of the land parcel identification system geospatial data through efficient and accurate processing of cases.
• Land parcel identification system user acceptance testing on behalf of Digital Information Services Division.
• Support to RPID area offices and Digital Information Services Division to investigate geospatial data and single application form processing errors.
• Evaluate and analyse technical information interpreting multiple data sources and regulations to conduct complex data capture.
• Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to provide customer support.
• Data preparation to enable creation of mapping products to a set standard, exporting of digital products and development of processes to ensure efficiency and currency.
• Liaise with customers and staff to investigate queries and issues arising from geospatial data.
• Adapt to and deliver business change when required in accordance with deadlines.

Person specification

Experience of using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and/or BSc in Geography (or similar including GIS).

Essential Criteria

1. Experience of working in a team which meets deadlines and produces results.
2. Excellent organisational skills including the ability to plan, prioritise and initiate your own workload.
3. Strong communication skills including the ability to confidently use a variety of communication methods, both verbal and written which are used to maintain good working relationships with different contacts internally & externally.
4. Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
