Job summary

Do you want to work for the Ministry of Defence in a high octane Operational Headquarters managing the registration of specific vehicle capabilities? The Register Keeper department, based in the East Midlands, has a rare opportunity for the right person to lead the small team. 

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week, with on-call remuneration for out of hours cover.

Where business needs allow, there may be the opportunity for some hybrid working practices, although the nature of the role does dictate the need for largely office based routine. Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ministry of Defence in the small Register Keeper Team. The post of the Register Keeper Manager is multifaceted and necessitates tasks carried out at desktop level. The successful candidate will be a motivated, self-starter who is able to manage and prioritise workloads according to priorities of the business deliverables and risk based analysis and to establish relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships that promote collaboration between a range of stakeholders that support continual improvement. Forward thinking, ability to see the bigger picture with an awareness of  sensitivities around the customer base. Demonstrate a personal dedication to the customers values, in particular the flat hierarchical nature.

Specific duties include, but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate a personal dedication to the customers values
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Support to resolution of complaints
  • Ensure local compliance with legislative and mandatory requirement
  • Individual and collective management of the team
  • Through life registration management of fleet
  • Processing of Management Information Reports
  • Management of registration system
  • Ownership of PO Box and maintenance of branch account records
  • Liaison of all stakeholders including UK Strategic Command, Field Army, DVLA, internal customers and Police Forces
  • Cryptographic Custodian Duties

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Educated to A-Level Standard/NVQ Management Level 3 or 4 or relevant equivalent experience
  • Computer literate inclusive of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Desirable:

  • Experience of Power Apps
