Our team is made up of financial experts with diverse skills and backgrounds, all dedicated to providing top-notch advice on corporate and regulatory finance issues. We oversee the retail market and lead the operation and implementation of Ofgem’s RIIO price controls, onshore and offshore transmission projects, and the National Energy System Operator (NESO).

As a Financial Policy Advisor, you will be based within the Finance Policy team but will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cross-Ofgem projects that require your expertise. You will support the determination of various regulatory regimes, including RIIO price controls, the Cap and Floor Regime for Interconnectors, OFTO Tender Rounds Review, and the transition from Electricity System Operator (ESO) to NESO. Your role will involve supporting finance policy development, conducting analysis, and delivering high-quality work on time through individual effort and collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.

You will collaborate closely with other teams to manage interdependencies, risks, and resourcing, ensuring the successful delivery of our portfolio. Demonstrating inclusive ways of working within the team and the wider organisation is key. Continuous communication with policy colleagues across all levels will be essential to ensure a full understanding of Ofgem policies and decisions.

To excel in this role, you should have or be working towards a recognised finance qualification, such as CFA or MSc Finance, or have relevant finance or commercial experience with a proven record of high performance and substantial achievements. You must be able to process and communicate complex financial information and data to varied audiences effectively. Building strong internal and external relationships at all levels is crucial, as is having a broad knowledge of Ofgem’s activities and the UK’s political and regulatory landscape. Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is essential, along with confidence in problem-solving and using complex information to enable effective decision-making.

If you are ready to make a difference in the energy sector and meet the essential criteria, we encourage you to apply and become a part of our dedicated team at Ofgem.
