Corporate Centre

The Corporate Centre Group delivers a wide range of corporate services to enable people at HM Treasury and many of the other organisations who form part of the HM Treasury Group (including the Government Internal Audit Agency and the Debt Management Office) to operate effectively and efficiently. We are a diverse group, both in terms of our professions and in our ways of working. Our colleagues are based across 3 sites in London, Darlington and Norwich.

About the team

HM Treasury's Group Finance Team comprises approximately 50 staff. It includes Strategic Finance, Financial Management, Financial Reporting, Finance Operations and Payroll, and Counter Fraud and Risk.

We are part of the wider Government Finance Function (GFF), which represents and supports the finance community across the civil service. GFF offers a range of developmental opportunities, resources, tools, and networks to support us in our roles.

The Analytics team within Strategic Finance leads on providing Group Finance with detailed analytics to support strategic decision making. It is therefore very varied and a great way to learn about the Department. It involves working closely with colleagues across the Department and the wider HM Treasury Group. The team is passionate about customer facing support and operates in a fast-changing, project-based environment.

Key accountabilities

  1. Develop, future-proof, and maintain various corporate data sets. Consider these data sets through different perspectives to produce strategic advice for senior leaders to support them in decision making.
  2. Embed transformational change in Group Finance’s internal reporting by building new, and streamlining current, reporting products and system platforms.
  3. Ensure the accurate and timely completion of the organisation’s committed reporting portfolio, which includes widely published data sets.
  4. Produce responses to Freedom of Information Requests and Parliamentary Questions related to the Corporate Centre Group on a breadth of topics.
  5. Support on high-profile project-based work for senior leaders, such as Spending Reviews. Support the wider HM Treasury community in their various analytical projects by acting as an expert sounding board, building strong networks to allow for knowledge sharing and implementation of best practice.
  6. Line management of at least one individual, supporting and developing the line management chain alongside growing the analytical capability of the wider Group Finance team.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must be working towards, or have completed, a professional qualification related to Finance or Data Analytics.
