Job summary

The United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) Finance Team is responsible for the day to day management of UKSV’s financial transactions, both income and
expenditure. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the financial operations as well as supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting to budget holders.

This is an exciting and varied role which has elements of the Finance Operations and Management Reporting job families from the GFF Career Framework. Experience working in GFF is not essential, but candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in a finance role with exposure to transactional

Job description

You will work closely with the G6 Head of Finance whilst also coaching and leading an EO direct report. UKSV sits within Government Security Group (GSG)
and, as an embedded finance contact, you will also work with both central finance and GSG finance colleagues.


• Day-to-day management of UKSV financial operations, being all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Maintaining accurate records of costs and income that satisfy audit requirements and ensure business continuity.
• Ensure that financial procedures are documented, compliant with Cabinet Office controls and optimised wherever possible.
• Working closely with the wider UKSV organisation to support engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide support at month end on areas such as account reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and other adjustments.
• Engage with budget holders to communicate financial performance and produce regular forecasts.
• Liaising with both Government Security Group and Cabinet Office finance teams on a regular basis.
• Work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of
responsibility of the post.

Person specification

As Finance Manager within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following essential expertise and attributes:


● Strong communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain positive and productive relationships with a wide range of
stakeholders at all levels.
● Excellent numerical and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise a variety of competing tasks.
● Part-qualified CCAB and/or AAT accountant or are willing to work towards a relevant qualification.
● Experience in a finance and accounting role with exposure to transactional processing and/or management reporting.
● Proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
● Strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills.
● Organised and able to keep on top of multiple tasks at once.
● A self-starter who has a can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
● Enjoys working as part of a team.
● Strong IT skills.


Desirable
● Experience of working in a Government Finance role.

Additional information:

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
