Job summary

Introduction

Technical Advisors are appointed in line with decisions taken by Parliament’s Joint Investment Board (JIB) and following our governance framework for projects, programmes and portfolios.   The decisions taken by JIB effectively require Category A (highest risk/complexity) project and programme boards to include an external member.

We are now looking to appoint external Technical Advisers for the House of Commons Security Construction Programme Board.

Job description

The Security Construction Programme requires an external Technical Advisor, who will need to demonstrate experience of leadership and delivery at the highest level in an executive or non-executive capacity in the private, public or voluntary sectors. They will have outstanding Board-level experience in an organisation operating in a prominent public sphere, a significant track record of leadership and outstanding levels of expertise in the types of issues that are likely to be important in the Security Construction Programme, with experience of working within an open and transparent environment and achieving demonstrable value for money.

The Executive Sponsor is seeking a Technical Adviser to join the Project Sponsor Board. The Board supports the Executive Sponsor in strategically directing the project in the area of requirements and benefits, and in holding the SRO accountable for effective project delivery. Other members of the Board are drawn from the House of Commons service and the R&R Sponsor Body.

Person specification

Candidates will come from a range of backgrounds and areas of the United Kingdom.  All candidates will be required to demonstrate in their written applications and at interview how their skills, experience and personal qualities, from current or previous roles, will equip them to meet the requirements of the role. Please ensure you provide evidence, metrics where relevant, and examples (as far as you are able) in response to these when writing your application. Should you be selected for interview, these areas will be assessed in more depth at the interview stage.
