Job summary

The CMA has an exciting opportunity for an Events Officer to join a new Events function within the Strategy, Communications and Advocacy directorate.

The CMA is looking to increase the number and type of external events that it hosts to support its engagement with stakeholders to add impact of the CMA’s work. 

You will be working alongside colleagues from across the CMA to deliver a programme of events that are tailored to audience expectations – explaining the work of the CMA and capturing insights from the CMA’s stakeholders across the UK. You will identify opportunities to share the CMA’s impacts and design memorable engagement between the CMA and its partners.

Job description

The role will involve contributing to the delivery and organisation of the CMA’s growing programme of external events:

  • Effectively provide support to the Events Manager and work closely with the Events Team in the planning and execution of events.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders including political, industry third sector and governmental stakeholders, new and existing external CMA suppliers, to develop and finalise sessions and activities.
  • Communicating project plans and expectations clearly to policy teams, senior management and stakeholder and strategic engagement leads where required.

  • Demonstrable experience of establishing and managing relationships with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally (lead criteria).

  • Demonstrable skills and experience in delivering project outcomes to set deadlines, including identifying risks, problem-solving, and recommending a preferred course of action to mitigate a potential risk (lead criteria).

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communications according to the needs of a wide variety of audiences.

 

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work successfully, using various techniques and systems, in order to meet deadlines and budgetary requirements.

It is desirable that you can provide evidence and examples for the following selection criteria in your application:

  • Experience of administering work programmes and/or organising large-scale events that involve liaison with multiple bodies and suppliers.

Selection process details

The selection process will comprise of the sift (CV & application review) and an interview. Arrangements for the interview will be enclosed in the invitation.

    The sift will take place 3rd June to 7th June 2024.

    If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an interview. You will be notified via email to log-in to your Civil Service Account and book your interview slot. You will be sent an email with full details of your arrangements for interview.

    Interviews will be held week commencing 17th June. There is 1 interview stage for this role. Part of your overall assessment will consist of an in-tray exercise, details of which will be sent to you when you are invited to select an interview date. This will contain details of the assessment and a deadline for the return prior to your interview. The in-tray exercise will be marked and form part of your interview assessment.

    The interview will be a 45-60 minute panel interview where you will be asked questions based on the Behaviours, Strengths and Experience outlined in the role profile.
