About the job

Job summary

You’re a mid-level software systems engineer. You’ve worked in secure environments before. But now you’re ready for something bigger. A vibrant workplace. A vital role. And the chance to take what you do to the next level.

Job description

Who we are

As a trusted government partner, we help to protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. You’ll find us on every continent and in almost every country around the world. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We keep visa applications secure in the Cloud. We safely deliver diplomatic packages across the globe. We design state-of-the-art security systems. And right now, we’re growing our capability to deliver secure IT solutions to our government-level customers. So, this is your chance to do something that means more.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll help to build and maintain applications, check performance levels and the security of those applications. It’ll see you get involved in everything from installing secure software and working with the wider team on operating systems. You’ll investigate faults and advise on solutions. As well as resolving any issues, you’ll find room for improvement. You’ll also document information across the lifecycle, help with our on-call services, and share knowledge with your team. In everything you do, you’ll help us deliver outstanding customer service by building relationships and being reliable, responsive, and easy to work with.

What we’re looking for

We want to see that you’re invested in your own development. If you’re keen to become a database subject matter expert, we’ll support you with the training and learning opportunities to do just that. With a passion for technology and learning new things, you’re comfortable in a fast-paced environment. As well as Agile and ITIL Foundation Level Certification (or the relevant experience), it’s essential that you bring the relevant product certifications. You also have a strong technical understanding of hardware, software and systems. You’d also like to work in secure surroundings, and you bring some awareness of what this involves.

Why our people stay

There are so many excellent benefits from the moment you join us. We’ll invest in your training, growth and career progression, every step of the way. Then there’s all the benefits we offer. Excellent work-life balance. Flexible working opportunities. On-site OFSTED-registered nursery. Civil Service pension. And lots more. In short, it’s your job bigger.
What happens next

All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website. It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.

The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
