Job description

The Matrix Programme is a transformation programme involving the Cabinet Office; Department for Science Innovation & Technology; Department for Energy Security & Net Zero; Department for Education; Department of Health & Social Care; Department for Business & Trade; Attorney General’s Office; and HM Treasury.

It is a unique cross-government collaboration that will unlock simpler, better, and more joined up working by bringing together the systems, processes and ways of working for key government functions such as Finance or HR (Human Resources), commonly known as Shared Services.

The post sits in the Digital Shared Services Team, a fantastic team passionate about improving the existing shared services experience for DSIT/DESNZ and its partners whilst working to deliver the strategic objectives of the new Government Shared Services Strategy through the Matrix Programme.

We are looking for an Engagement and Content Designer to work within our team to manage the transition to new ways of working as part of the new shared services model, putting people at the heart of the change. We have the ability to shape this role to support the individual’s development and enhance their skills!

Responsibilities include:

- Support both change and communication activities to look at improving our current shared service processes and provision ahead of onboarding onto the Matrix solution.

- Lead on creating, engaging, evaluating, updating and reviewing content, across a variety of formats, to support multiple change and engagement initiatives stretching across digital and offline channels. 

- Work closely with a wide range of stakeholders and build trust and credibility through effective relationships, engaging proactively with stakeholders and the wide business to support engagement and maintain those effective relationships.

- Maintain an awareness of the strategic stakeholder and audience landscape to ensure the content we deliver is centred around the recipient, set up for success and delivered at the right time, in the right place and in the right format.

 - Work across the team, using your expertise and enthusiasm to identify, understand and assess opportunities for engagement and communications interventions. Support the team in utilising innovative tools and techniques for effective insight gathering to inform delivery of impactful campaigns.

- Continued monitoring and review of active content to maintain accuracy and seek out innovative ways to obtain feedback on the effectiveness of channels and materials. Suggest changes and improvements, celebrate successes and learn lessons. 

- Understand, identify and mitigate risks. Establish and manage dependencies across our work to ensure timely reporting to our PMO function, and to escalate any issues through the appropriate governance. Prepare any documentation required for relevant stakeholders, working groups and governance boards.

Person specification

Essential skills and experience:

- Experience of developing and delivering multi-platform communications strategies, informed by based on audience analysis and strong stakeholder engagement to elevate user satisfaction.

- With experience in writing, editing and publishing digital content, you are able to make complex language and technical processes easy to understand, utilising data to drive content decision making and confidently adapting your style to meet different audience needs. 

- You understand government accessibility requirements and can design content that works with common assistive technologies.

- An ability to work at pace in an ambiguous and evolving environment and use an iterative and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery when required. 

Benefits
