Job summary

As an End User Computing Engineer you will play an important role in Digital Service Desk team. You will be joining our friendly and experienced team, who are committed to making positive change in how we support our colleagues within Homes England.

Job description

You will identify and register incidents, gathering the required information, categorising and assigning appropriately. Investigate the cause of incidents and find resolutions, recording all actions through to resolution. Ensuring our IT Service Management tool, Service Now, is up to date and targets are met in line with our Incident Management and Request Management procedures. You will collaborate with colleagues to resolve incidents and taking ownership until the incident is resolved or until a new owner is found. You will also fulfil user requests with standards set out in our service level agreement. You will provide support face to face, by MS Teams call and through our IT Service Management tool, Service Now. 

Being an active listener and seeking to understand are important to us. You will have the ability to communicate effectively by using non-technical jargon/language. We are looking for an individual who has a diversity of thinking and problem-solving. 

You will log, track and maintain secure and accurate asset information along with the build and provision of Microsoft Surface Laptops and other devices. 

You will work with the wider team to establish a best in class service support operation, underpinned by industry standard ITIL 4 processes.

Person specification

As an experienced Digital professional, you’ll understand how to manage relationships with colleagues and your team and demonstrate you can work in a collaborative and inclusive way. 

The successful candidate will need to be confident, enthusiastic, dynamic and experienced Service Desk Engineer. You will have a proven track record working within a digital operations environment and have a passion for supporting and exploring technology.   

You will have excellent problem solving skills and can concisely explain technical procedures and outcomes, ensuring all Homes England colleagues are supported in the use of our digital products. 

You will need to be the kind of person who is confident enough to engage fully in our team meetings, projects and day to day work and make a positive contribution to the continual improvement of processes and behaviours within our team and yourself. 

As this is an IT support role, technical ability is essential. Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, with a professional attitude are equally important. 

Experience supporting Office 365, Windows 10, Azure Active Directory, MS Exchange Hybrid and Microsoft Teams. Excellent understanding and demonstrable experience of working to the ITIL framework and utilising ITSM tools such as Service Now.
