Job summary

The relationship between the Government and the Judiciary is crucial to the effective operation of our constitution. The Director of Judicial and Legal Services Policy will play a unique and pivotal role in managing this complex and vital interaction. This includes supporting the Lord Chancellor in fulfilling his constitutional responsibilities and working in partnership with the judiciary.

The role requires the Director to build effective personal relationships with the most senior judges, the chair of the Judicial Appointments Commission, and colleagues across MOJ and wider government on judicial matters. Having a strong relationship with the judiciary is critical to enabling the Ministry of Justice to deliver its strategic objectives, given the fundamental importance of the judicial perspective to the core business of the Department. It is therefore a truly exciting, challenging and fulfilling role.
