Job description

Can you deliver multi-million £ infrastructure projects within challenging time, cost and performance parameters in a live and busy military environment?

You will work for the DIO Navy and DE&S Portfolio responsible for delivering infrastructure projects for the Royal Navy and the Defence Equipment and Support customers. The roles include managing infrastructure refurbishment programmes at HMNB Clyde (Faslane & Coulport), managing a highly complex refurbishment of marine basins at HMNB Devonport (Plymouth), and managing the delivery of various accommodation and military establishment upgrades across Scotland and England. 
As such, Civil, Geotechnical or Maritime background/experience, complex stakeholder engagement/management background/experience and the ability to commute regularly to the site are essential. 
You will be part of a team and network of project delivery professionals that spans the UK.

Person specification

  • A Project Manager within MPP will: Build and lead the team to deliver the agreed project outcomes
  • Monitor delivery of benefits against the business case and ensure appropriate approvals and assurance plans are in place
  • Identify and set appropriate project controls, tracking and reporting delivery against milestones and budgets
  • Schedule and run project resources
  • Manage project stakeholders and connect with partners at all levels
  • Identify and monitor project risks and issues and ensure effective
  • change management processes exist
  • Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making and control of projects and their place in a programme and Portfolio
  • Responsible for driving the direction of the “Strategic Consenting Approach to Project Delivery”
  • Liaising with key consenting organisations to provide coherence across regional and national consenting approaches whilst maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Some of the roles will have line management responsibility, and some will be working independently

Desirable Experience and Skills:

  • Working towards a relevant project management qualification.
  • Working towards a relevant project management membership or accreditation.
  • Working towards a relevant Civil, Geo-technical and/or Maritime Engineering membership or accreditation.
  • Demonstrable experience of driving a strategic consenting approach to project delivery.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the government financial approvals process for large projects
