Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the DIO in a dynamic role which is committed to making a significant contribution to the delivery of high-quality Service Families Accommodation (SFA) as we enter into the Future Defence Infrastructure Services (FDIS) contract with our new Industry Partners (IP). The incumbent is responsible for supervising a variety of geographically dispersed housing estates comprising in excess of 1000 homes. 

The HEM is tasked with conducting detailed facility management assurance activity utilising Computer Assisted Facility Management and associated Information Management systems in combination with regular estate visits and inspections. To succeed, they need to form productive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues, Industry Partners and a diverse range of partners. Strong communication skills are vital to craft and influence the effective and efficient delivery of a quality service within your area of responsibility whilst ensuring the availability of safe, legislatively compliant homes and achieving value for money for Defence. We are looking for an individual with technical knowledge in the field of housing and or a willingness to work toward a technical qualification.

They will need to conduct customer service activity, engaging with family members and working with our industry partners to address complaints and parliamentary enquires. Also resolve challenges which arise whilst always placing the quality of the lived experience first. We support a diverse and inclusive community whilst seeking to ensure the service is available and accessible to all.

They will be a Line manager to Housing Estate Officers, that produces a positive impact to individuals, teams and the department. We aim to maximise potential, by motivating, engaging and empowering all teams to deliver in a safe, supported working environment

  • Conducting other assurance visits and activities to ensure billable works are completed to a high standard and within contracted time scale.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative and other mandatory requirements.
  • Assisting in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints.
  • Collaborative working with Industry Partners.
  • Stakeholder engagement.
  • Property inspections to determine condition and inspection of building works.
  • Total estate management with strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Identification of supply chain capability gaps.
  • Ensuring local compliance with legislative and mandatory requirement.
  • Contributing to regular management reporting regarding the condition and availability of homes.
  • Line management tasks including monthly 121’s, End of Year Reports.
