Job description

As Assistant Project Manager you will be supporting two DIO MPP Senior Project Managers  who are responsible for delivering complex capital projects for UK Strategic Command, with a focus on performance, cost and time. Proactively managing consultants who are contracted to deliver early project feasibility studies and concept designs, progressing through spatial coordination to commission works contractors to develop and deliver the final designs, all in accordance with the Royal Institute of Building Architects (RIBA) Plan of Work 2020. 

The position will operate within the Major Programmes and Projects (MPP) United Kingdom Strategic Command (UKStratCom) facing team and as such will assist with delivery of  infrastructure projects for UKStratCom.

This post is reserved for sole UK nationals only who must have resided in the UK for the last 10 years. Also if not already held, the post holder will be required to obtain Developed Vetting

Person specification

  • Support Project Managers in all aspects of the delivery of various defence infrastructure projects.
  • Assist in delivery of benefits against the business case and ensure appropriate approvals and assurance plans are in place.
  • Work with the Senior Project Manager to Identify and set appropriate project controls, tracking and reporting delivery against milestones and budgets.
  • Schedule and run project resources
  • Manage project partners and connect with them at all levels
  • Identify and supervise project risks and issues and ensure effective change management processes exist
  • Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making and control of projects and their place in a programme and Portfolio
  • Support team PMO activities and act as a point of contact for internal DIO stakeholders
  • Support regular commitments including team meetings and audit activities.
