We are looking for a confident and passionate Digital Engagement Manager, already working in the digital space, who will develop and execute communications goals, strategies and campaigns that align with our business goals and enhance our reputation.  

As a Digital Engagement Manager within Technology Services, you will work in the Business Management Team. You’ll be working within a wider community of content creators, delivery leads, other Digital Engagement specialists.  You will be a business to partner portfolio managers across all of Technology Services and develop successful, long term strategic relationships with our customers.   You will ensure our internal products and services are communicated and shared with our community in ways that are user-focused, accessible, and easy to understand.

The engagement community within Technology Services is developing and we want you to help shape our digital engagement capability in this emerging space. We want to establish closer ties with our user-centred design colleagues within the organisation and truly put the user at the centre of all that we do.

Job description

  • Responsible for the design and evaluation of a variety of internal communication channels and products such as internal newsletters, email, infographics, video etc,
  • Work with the content creators within the team to support the production of our communications campaigns to achieve optimum engagement and meet often tight deadlines
  • Ensure consistent and user-focused design of internal communication products, including our intranet and SharePoint presence, keeping up to date with best practice and guidelines, championing accessibility, and curating content
  • Support and champion the reporting of internal communications insight and engagement metrics, keeping up to date with the latest trends and tools available
  • Proactively build understanding of the colleagues’ needs, recommend how these can support internal communication campaigns
  • Create clear, accessible, and accurate written content. Help to shape and uphold clear written communications standards and a consistent style
  • Have a positive attitude and offer relevant advice on communications, channels, and engagement to stakeholders
  • Be a visible and active member of the Digital Engagement community.

Person specification

  • Manage relationships with channel owners 
  • Proactively identify story ideas and content
  • Understand how to create engaging, accessible, and accurate written content. and can implement guidance and best practice in areas including accessibility, diversity, language, and branding
  • Experience of working in fast paced communications team, producing strategies and communications products - delivering at pace - and evaluating their impact
  • Proven experience in creating, implementing and evaluating a variety of internal  communication processes.

Hybrid Working

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.  This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £40,201 to £43,347.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application

Stage 2: Interview

If you’re successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the experiences listed in the essential criteria.

Question in Advance

To help you prepare and settle into the interview you will be sent the experience questions in advance of the interview, 5 days prior to your interview. These questions should be treated as confidential and should not be shared. The interview panel may ask you other questions which will not be shared in advance, including follow-up questions, and those about your experience. Candidates should be asked further probing questions if their response is deemed to require further information to determine suitability for the role.

You will be asked to do a 10 minutes presentation on a specific topic. Further details will be provided to candidates invited to interview.
