Job summary

The Prime Minister’s Office enables the Prime Minster to deliver the Government’s overall priorities and to communicate the Government’s policies to Parliament, the public and international audiences. From the Policy Unit, Press Office, Digital Communications, Switchboard and Custodians, to the Events & Visits team and the world class Private Office support; the diverse Downing Street team draws on varied expertise from across the Civil Service and beyond. Job description

  • This role is part of the new No10 digital communications hub, serving the Prime Minister by creating and designing digital content to help communicate policy announcements, official events and visits.
  • The digital team is at the forefront of communicating how government policy affects the lives of people throughout the United Kingdom.
  • This role offers an experienced graphic designer an exciting new challenge, playing a critical role in devising, producing and distributing a range of digital content. 
  • Your work will be seen by millions of people and have the potential to make a huge impact on their lives. From telling people about the cost of living support available to them to announcing new multi-billion pound global trade deals, your work will always be at the forefront of the news agenda.
  • You’ll be working in a very creative and high performing team with other designers, photographers and videographers. As well as collaborating with other government departments, developing creative content for the social, web and print.

Responsibilities of the role

  • You will be creating graphics and animations that can stop the scroll and capture the attention for 10 Downing Street and the Prime Minister’s social media channels.
  • You will need to come up with creative ways of telling the stories of how the work of government impacts people’s lives and simplifying complex policies to cut through with the general public.
  • You will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders including ministers, press officers and Special Advisors. 
  • Ensuring government content is up to date with the latest industry trends and best practice.
  • You will be part of the No.10 digital out of hour's rota.

Essential Skills & Experience;

  • Proven track record in designing creative content for social media.
  • Project management and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Expert in creating content using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to learn quickly.

Desirable Skills & Experience;

  • An understanding of the current political landscape.
  • Photo editing, video editing
