DWP Digital are looking for people to join their Business Management Teams as a Performance & Planning Manager.

Business Management teams are at the very heart of enabling the organisation to run effectively and deliver successfully. They are fundamental in planning Digital Group’s business objectives, establishing clear connections between planned activity, the resources it uses and the funding it consumes – driving strategy and more effective decision making.

As a Performance & Planning Manager you will be part of a team providing essential business management services to help measure and drive better performance. This includes the effective management of workforce planning, demand and recruitment governance, risk and audit management, business planning, financial assurance and compliance.

Job description

As a Performance & Planning Manager you will be responsible for leading and reporting on one or more of the following areas depending on the team you are assigned to:

  • Business Planning

Contribute to the design, develop and communicate a multi year business plan to achieve key strategic benefits including tracking and monitoring of those outcomes.  Develop and monitor the delivery of tactical and strategic plans across a wide range of stakeholders.  Work closely with Senior commercial and financial stakeholders to understand the commercial and financial impact of the business plan.

  •  Workforce Planning

Report to board level stakeholders on functional workforce plans. Lead on the design & implementation of a workforce plan, identifying demand and monitoring recruitment (supply) against the demand and budget.

  •  Financial Planning & Assurance

Support the functional Director and Senior Leadership Team in the formulation and presentation of their long term financial requirements. Budgeting, forecasting and reporting to provide financial assurance on delivery of business outcomes.

  •  Performance

Support the design & implementation of KPIs and Performance indicators to measure deliverables outlined in a business plan.

  •  Risk

Management of strategic and functional risks ensuring mitigations deliver the desired outcomes.

  •  Audit

Supporting the design and implementation of an audit plan ensuring delivery against that plan. Managing the agreement, tracking and achievement of audit recommendation outcomes.

 In addition, across all posts you will be required to:

  •  collaborate with stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of standards, processes and products.
  •  Manage the design and building of reporting products including dashboards and scorecards to create impactful presentations and reports.

Hybrid Working

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.  This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £40,201 to £43,347.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

  • Experience of negotiating and influencing stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.

Stage 2: Interview

If you’re successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the following Behaviours and Technical Skills:  You will also be assessed against Strengths.

Interviews will take place from Early March. 

After interview, a single merit list will be created and you will only be considered for posts in locations you have expressed a preference for. Appointments will be made in strict merit order in line with the set number of roles in each location.
