About the job

Job summary

We’re looking for a commercially minded Digital Analyst to take responsibility for reporting, tagging and tracking on the Kew Shop, and integration of a new optimisation tool with our underlying e-commerce and Google Analytics 4 analytics platforms.  This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

Kew is currently embarking on an ambitious change programme to enhance the visitor experience and increase revenue generation through improvements to our technology infrastructure and digital estate. This role will support data-driven strategic decisions on the new e-commerce platform (Adobe Commerce) that is being developed in this programme.

Job description

This role is responsible for the reporting and data analysis side of our new suite of digital products, inspiring people to engage with our mission, explore our science, horticulture and collections, visit our gardens and drive income generation through ticketing, donations and retail sales.

This role will sit within the Digital Experience (DigEx) team. DigEx are responsible for improving the overall experience of RBG Kew by developing and managing a suite of user-focused digital products and channels. We want everyone to understand the power and beauty of plants, so we work with expert scientists and horticulturalists to share compelling stories that inspire people to visit our gardens and learn about our world-leading scientific work. We love to explore new ideas, technologies and approaches, always keeping the audience front-of-mind. We’re open, transparent and get the best results when we collaborate and learn from each other’s experiences.

The Digital Experience team sits within the Marketing & Commercial Enterprise directorate (MCE). Our directorate leads the development of audience strategy to drive visitor numbers and communicate Kew’s brand to the public through digital, marketing and PR activities. MCE is also responsible for visitor operations, catering, delivering a programme of events and bringing in additional revenue through commercial partnerships and licensing.

Person specification

You will be responsible for setting up reporting on the new system so that we can accurately monitor our success in realising OKRs and the wider business benefits of the systems we are implementing.  You’ll need to have a strong background in reporting and be comfortable in setting up tagging and tracking on e-comm sites using tools including Google Analytics 4 and Looker Studio.  We will be looking to you to help us build a complete picture of our e-comm performance using a portfolio of analytics tools including GA4, Google Console, Hotjar, and potentially a future cookie-less analytics tool. Experience integrating social media and marketing data, alongside web and ecommerce reporting, would be useful, but not essential.

You will be confident analysing digital data, deriving and communicating insights and identifying opportunities that deliver against our goals. You will be comfortable advising on best practice and will bring your experience to guide us towards the right tools for the job and how to get the best out of them.  You’ll take ownership of problems and prioritise effectively to find resolutions.

You’ll be part of an agile, multidisciplinary team, working creatively on one of the largest business system update programmes that Kew has undertaken. We are an organisation of smart, talented and passionate people. You’ll approach stakeholders and team members with curiosity and consideration, building shared goals that demonstrate the value of improved digital experiences to RBG Kew and get buy-in and cross-directorate support for our work.

Benefits

Our fantastic benefits package includes opportunities for continuous learning, a generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance, an Employee Assistance Programme and other wellbeing support such as cycle to work scheme and discounted gym membership. We also offer a competitive pension, an employee discount scheme and free entry into a wide range of national museums and galleries, as well access to our own beautiful gardens at Kew and Wakehurst.
