Job summary

The role of the Team Leader will be to lead and manage your teams from an operational perspective, to ensure that vetting products are completed within specific timeframes and with the required assurance. Similarly your role will include HR responsibility for your team and managing these issues according to guidance.

You will ensure that the team performance and engagement under your leadership is optimised and that teams are as productive as they can be to meet departmental objectives.

Communication skills are a must for this role, as your team’s performance and understanding of the role will reflect your performance. Alongside this, we are looking for someone who is open to change and can challenge our current ways of working.

UK Security Vetting have an exciting opportunity for Developed Vetting Team Leaders to join the Developed Vetting (DV) Function.

Job description

As a DV Team Leader, you will manage a team of Pre-Assessors, as well as contributing to the wider management of the Function. The aim is to ensure that key aspects of the vetting processes are completed within specific timeframes and with the required assurance.

As a DV Team Leader, you will be expected to ensure the delivery team performance and engagement under your leadership is optimised to meet the quantitative and qualitative customer requirements, and that business key performance indicators are met.

You will be reporting to your Delivery, Performance & Engagement Manager. Your daily duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Direct line management responsibility for a team of DV Pre-Assessors.
  • Oversee the management and analysis of performance for your team.
  • Champion transformation, innovation, and ongoing continuous improvement across your area to support the organisation’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure a culture focused on quality assurance and support continual learning.
  • Build positive working relationships across the business, and support the Delivery Manager/Assistant Head where needed with external engagement.

Person specification

As a Developed Vetting Team Leader within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following expertise and attributes:

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Ability to identify and support the development needs of themselves and others.
  • Experienced within a fast-paced and complex operational environment.
  • Strong ability to create high-performing teams, able to set clear goals, communicate clearly and respectfully, and understand how their work fits into the organisational mission.
  • Excellent people engagement skills and a focus on building collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet changing priorities, managing a diverse workload and optimising resources to meet current and future demand.

Desirable Experience

  • DV/Vetting experience.
  • Line Management/Coaching experience.

Additional information:

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
