Job summary

The Deputy Establishment Security Officer is accountable to the Establishment Security Officer (ESyO) for the effective delivery and maintenance of security minimum baseline standards. The job delivers to the Dstl Site Operations Manager/Head of Establishment (HOE) and ensures we protect Dstl personnel and assets and maintain Dstl’s licence to operate to HMG/MOD mandated standards.

Working with ESyO and Deputies from all Dstl sites, you will undertake activities in an efficient and cost effective manner, ensuring a consistent approach to risk management. You will support and enable self-service processes where appropriate.

Job description

In this role you will:

  • Understand Dstl’s business and delivery requirements, identify and document potential risks to security.
  • Ensure procedures are followed and conditions are in place to mitigate risk to security across the business.
  • Deliver effective services relating to Physical Security:
  • Advise on Site Security and assure baseline protective security measures are met.
  • Provide a proportional response and advice relating to investigations and incident management.
  • Provide protective security advice and guidance to internal stakeholders including internal and external event security measures.
  • Investigate and resolve security incidents in line with corporate security breach policy.
  • Provide security advice to colleagues for off-site events.
  • Interface with policing / guarding forces to ensure sufficient level of service for site policing & guarding.

Person specification

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Dedication to delivering and assuring a secure, safe and resilient work environment for Defence Science and Technology (S&T).
  • Evidence of your skills and capabilities drawn from experience in a security, resilience or assurance related role.
  • An adaptable and resilient team player who will thrive contributing to Defence S&T in a role identifying risk management solutions within a strong governance framework.

    This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
