Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Real Estate Management expert to direct the Asset Management team, acting as an internal centre of real estate and legal knowledge, providing the intelligent customer function to external property and legal consultants.

The Deputy Director, Asset Management will act as SRO for those outsourced contracts, responsible for their appointment, performance, conduct and budget lines, to enable HMCTS to have rapid access to a comprehensive range of expertise.

This is a Nationally based role.

Leadership

  • To provide strong leadership, clear direction and support to the Senior Management Team who set the strategic direction for the effective delivery of HMCTS estate priorities and service level targets.
  • Champion a culture which supports the wellbeing and engagement of our people and ensures equality, diversity, and inclusion in alignment with our values.
  • Champion continuous improvement across the Property Directorate .

Asset Management

  • Direct development of intelligence for all properties under HMCTS estate.
  • Provide Court and Tribunal Asset Management advice and guidance to HMCTS.
  • Stand by, promote or defend the Property Directorate’s actions and decisions where needed providing data-based evidence for decisions.
  • Work closely with other directorates within HMCTS and other government departments to understand wider government intentions/initiatives and use this to align HMCTS.
  • Work with finance business partners within HMCTS to create appropriate financial reporting mechanisms that meet the requirements of the Property, Finance and Operational directorates within HMCTS and the corporate finance function within the MoJ.
  • Ensure dashboard reporting of progress and data for regular scrutiny and interaction within HMCTS.
  • Direct the property asset and occupation plans, keeping track of changes and implications.
  • Have expert knowledge of tenure and lease terms across the estate.
  • Track and produce a forward look of leasehold events across the estate.
  • Understand the mechanics of IFRS 16.

Internal and external relations

  • Represent HMCTS both internally and externally in all areas of Asset Management.
  • Direct and own collaborative relationships across HMCTS and Ministry of Justice to make sure that HMCTS Asset Management is an enabler of our vision for the future.
  • Be visible and constantly available to staff and internal stakeholders for advice, regularly undertaking activities to engage and build trust with people involved in priority areas.
  • Provide clarity and clear explanations on Property Data, giving a clear sense of leadership, direction and purpose to all real estate information.
  • Confidently engage with internal stakeholders and colleagues at all levels to generate commitment to goals.
  • Work with other directorates within HMCTS and other government departments to understand and implement best practice for Asset Management.
