Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. Job description

The role of EO Data Materiel Controller sits in the Supply Chain Management Team (SCM) within Joint Support (JtSp).

Controlled Stocks (CS) are the resilience margin of critical stores, such as vehicle parts, that Defence holds in anticipation of surges in activity levels. The landscape pertaining to CS management has changed significantly over recent time: CS holdings are currently worth over £330M with further purchases in train. The control and management of CS liability has been centralised within the SCM Data Team. SCM Data Team provides four key functions:

  1. Creation. Assisting as the interface between FLCs and DE&S in the detailed translation of requirements into demand plans listed by NSN and Qty.
  2. Maintenance. Daily oversight of the management of CS including the focal point for any CS releases.
  3. Reporting. Reporting on CS holdings, shortfalls and unfunded gaps in order to establish risk and advise on appropriate mitigations.
  4. Usage. Support to the issue of CS as part of the wider Contingent Op Stock demand in response to an emerging demand.

The role would benefit from knowledge and understanding of Defence Supply Chain and inventory Management alongside Power BI knowledge.

MS Office experience is essential. 

Person specification

As a CS materiel Controller, you will deliver the Data Team’s Maintenance Function by managing and maintaining the detailed day to day records of CS Holdings on Defence Logistic IT systems and bespoke records. You will receive supportive oversight and direction from your line manager but will retain and own the responsibility to liaise with a range of stakeholders across Defence to ensure that the size and content of the CS items within your responsibility are correct and respond to authorised requests to increase or lower CS holdings. These stakeholders include the DE&S, Fd Army, Team LEIDOS, and DSCOM among others. You will be responsible for knowing the details of the CS that you oversee with the ability to advise on the impact of requests for the release of CS that are raised by Defence users seeking to access CS. At all times we expect you to work as a dedicated team member displaying; the civil service values, collegiate working, cross briefing, and shared knowledge & experience.

Responsibilities for the role are below, but not limited to:

- Advising and guiding Front Line Commands (FLCs) and DE&S on the processes to ensure the module constructs are maintained appropriately.

- Conducting regular CS module reviews.

- Maintaining the CS Databook.

- Assisting in CS Planning for CS creation and usage.

- Additional ad hoc duties aligned to the Supply Chain Management Teams and Strategic Base Activity.
