Job description

The Wildcat Delivery Team is looking for an experienced Business Manager to join the team based at Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil.

The Wildcat Delivery Team is part of the Helicopter Operating Centre and is responsible for the in-service support and capability development of the Wildcat Helicopter.  Wildcat is operated by both the Royal Navy and the British Army and will be deployed around the world on operations for the next 22 years.  To ensure Wildcat remains available and operationally relevant the Delivery Team is developing the Wildcat’s military capability, managing its airworthiness and ensuring the sustainability of the platform.

As the Business Management Lead, you will lead the business management team and service provision, providing expert advice and coordination of all Delivery Team activities, with line management responsibilities. You will sit as a key member of the Wildcat Management Board and will have experience of working in a role at senior or managerial level, ideally within a highly complex organisation and with experience of leading and implementing change. You will have demonstrable knowledge of business operations and have a good track record of managing people and delivering success. You will work in collaboration with key stakeholders and manage the secretariat interface within DE&S and the MoD requiring superb communication skills.  The role requires leadership skills as well as the ability to engender positive behaviours that motivate and develop our people.

Responsibilities

 

  • Support in the development of business strategy in line with overall organisational objectives.
  • Ensure effective Business Management Services on a day to day basis to multiple stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice and Business Intelligence on a range of business subjects to Team Leaders and Senior Managers in their area, to support improvements and achievement of business objectives.
  • Implement appropriate business planning, governance and assurance frameworks for the area.
  • Act as a focal point for internal communications and secretariat business, including parliamentary, FOI and media enquiries.
  • Manage a team which has responsibility for the strategic delivery of business support. This includes managing the performance and developing members of the team to provide a quality business support service.
  • Develop and maintain the CSG catalogue of services and drive customer service ethos into business services.
  • Preparing Management Information (MI), including analysis, for regular management meetings.
  • Team lead for accommodation issues, including Smart Working.
  • Team lead for workforce planning.
  • Coordinate and support implementation of continuous improvement across delivery team or equivalent.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Significant experience in business management and managing teams delivering business services.
  • Experience in leadership and management of a medium to large workforce in in a complex environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
