Cabinet Office Digital has a crucial role to play in modernising the Cabinet Office through digital transformation. The directorate has approximately 350 staff and is growing to meet the demands of the department, and to provide a wider and more mature range of digital, data, technology and security services. 

This role is for a Data Visualisation Analyst in the Data Visualisation Centre of Excellence.

Job description

The Cabinet Office is on a journey to take our data skills to the next level. The Data Visualisation CoE supports this mission by organising, invigorating and connecting a community of data visualisation professions across government.  

The Data Visualisation CoE promotes best practice, supports data visualisation products, manages commercial relationships, organises and promotes training, advocates for the community, measures usage and governs shared services. 

Your role is to be a Data Visualisation go person for the Cabinet Office Analyst communities for knowledge, training, best practice and shared services.

Responsibilities

  • excite and energise the analyst community, bringing people together and fostering collaboration
  • engage with users and stakeholders through a range of channels to encourage take-up and use of Tableau and PowerBI
  • develop, publish and promote best practices
  • develop an expert understanding of CoE user needs and tailor offerings accordingly
  • ensure shared services for Tableau and PowerBI are available and in use
  • facilitate onboarding new teams and projects onto the shared environments
  • partner with vendors so we can make the best use possible of the tools
  • simplify, streamline and make self service all processes for community membership and collaboration 
  • govern the managed shared services, follow cyber security best practice, follow data protection best practice

Person specification

Essential criteria

  • a team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and thrives by helping others achieve their goals
  • passionate and knowledgeable about data solutions, data visualisation and digital solutions
  • experience developing data visualisations with Tableau
  • experience of engaging with users and tailoring product offering to their needs
  • ability to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • strong analytical skills, able to drill to detail when problem solving
  • strong strategic thinking and ability to analyse and interpret data 

Desirable criteria

  • experience developing visualisations using PowerBI
  • experience supporting PowerBI environments
  • familiarity with complex organisations such as regulated industries or public sector familiarity with cloud solutions such as TableauOnline and OKTA SSO

Additional information:

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
