Job summary

This is an exciting role for a Data Quality and Information Officer in UKHSA. As a Data Quality and Information Officer, you will be responsible for conducting checks for data quality, assisting in managing data cleaning processes and basic analysis of extracted datasets used for the generation of official data and published reports – using reproducible code and processes.

The postholder will also support and contribute to the development of quality assurance systems including data management systems for pre-entry and post entry screening for tuberculosis and contribution to the delivery of quality assurance for the pre-entry screening programme.

Location:

The role will be based at Colindale, London – 61 Colindale Avenue, London, NW9 5EQ but can also be worked from the UKHA office in Canary Wharf, E14 4PU.

Job description

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:

  • To evaluate generated datasets for sources of potential errors and conduct checks of data completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Contribute to the development of data quality processes and the systematic documentation of all data-related processes, including data protection & confidentiality.
  • Generate and update data tables, graphs and presentation slides forming part of the TB unit’s routine TB surveillance activities and published outputs including contributing to drafting of scientific
  • Conduct basic statistical analyses of data as requested and supervised by the Senior Scientist or Principal Epidemiologist.
  • Support the TB units Data management team in the development and linkage of databases used for the monitoring of pre-entry TB screening for prospective migrants and latent TB infection (LTBI) screening of new-entrants.
  • Support collaborative work with international stakeholders, the Home Office, national, regional and local staff regarding data collection and reporting of data collected as part of pre-entry TB screening and LTBI screening.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade, as specified by Senior Scientist, Consultant Epidemiologists or Director of

Person specification

Essential Criteria:

It is important through your application and Statement of Suitability of 750 words that you give evidence and examples of proven experience of each of the essential criteria (for full details of all essential criteria please refer to the attached job description):

Essential

  • Degree in a science subject
  • Experience of data collection, analysis, and presentation
  • Experience of writing and preparing reports
  • High level experience working with Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Basic statistical analysis using appropriate software (e.g., Stata or R)
  • A high level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, time management and task prioritisation.

Desirable

  • Experience using data visualisation tools advantageous.
  • Experience of using MS Access, SQL/MySQL to write queries and conduct data linkage.
  • Good all-round knowledge of Infectious diseases, in particular TB
  • Experience of working with the NHS, Public Health or the Office of National Statistics

Selection process details

STAGE 1 - APPLICATION & SIFT:
