Introduction 

We’re recruiting a Data Protection Team Administrator on a permanent basis here at MoJ (Ministry of Justice) Security and Information Governance Group, to be part of our warm and collaborative Data Protection Team.  

Knowledge and information are the lifeblood of the MoJ. They can transform the way we deliver public services as well as the relationship between government and public. It is important for the Department to show that we are capable of handling information carefully as well as making it readily available and widely accessible wherever we can and should. Managing information well can have a direct impact on our ability to deliver core services to our customers. 

The Data Protection Team is responsible for helping business groups across the department manage and use personal information in a manner compatible with the law. Its core function is to promote compliance with the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 and the

UK General Data Protection Regulation across policies, projects, processes and services which involve personal data, through the provision of bespoke advice, training and guidance to business areas.

The Role 
 
Reporting to the Data Protection Officer, you will have a key role in supporting the Office of the Data Protection Officer. Providing administrative support to the leadership and Data Protection Team (DPT). You will be supporting the coordination of the team’s processes and the way the department manages its personal data including responsibility for promoting adherence to information legislation across a vast spectrum of business areas. 

Key Responsibilities:

•    Providing high quality administrative support to the DPT and relevant senior managers.
•    Managing the team mailbox to ensure accurate and timely responses are provided to requests for training.
•    Providing secretariat support.
•    Managing travel bookings and reporting against spend.
•    Support the DPT Business Delivery Manager maintaining governance documentation with regard to the specified milestones, risks and key performance indicators.

Essential Skills: 

•    Analytical skills to provide the appropriate solution and preventative measures, taking accountability for actions taken and decisions made. 
•    Organisational skills to manage conflicting priorities and deliver at pace. 
•    Contributing to the work of the community, actively networking with others and engaging 
•    Engaging in meaningful interactions and relationships with users 
•    Knowledge of the information legislation, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the UK General Data Protection Regulation would be desirable. 
 
Desirable Skills: 

•    A data protection/GDPR qualification e.g. CIPP/E or CIPM
