Job Title:      Data Management Lead

Post Type: Permanent (minimum 30 hours per week worked over 4 days)

Location:  National at any HMCTS site. Some travel is required to attend meetings.

Based on current ways of working, work location is likely to be a combination of working from home and from the office, dependent on business needs.

HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. Data, Analysis and Insight is responsible for acquiring, assuring, and managing performance data, using it to produce performance reports and dashboards, analysis, forecasts and models. We produce performance reports and dashboards for the HMCTS Board, performance packs for Jurisdictional Boards and Business Authorities along with comparison tools on specific issues like early guilty pleas. Our remit also includes delivering new MI products for services that are being reformed.

We lead on workload forecasting, HR modelling and managing resource models such as, those for judicial complementing and the Spending Review. We are responsible for sharing our data externally, working with MoJ to publish official statistics, managing Data Sharing Agreements with other Government departments, and providing access to academia.

HMCTS has invested in a cloud-based strategic data platform to transform the ways in which we work with data and enable us to add more value than ever to the organisation and the public. This platform is now technically complete, and we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team and help us exploit our new technology.

About You

This role will be based in our Data Management and Engineering unit, reporting to our Head of Data Management and Engineering. It is a pivotal role for HMCTS to ensure that we are holding, curating, and protecting our data to drive value for our organisation both now and into the future.

  • You will lead HMCTS’s evolution of its approach to data management, helping us to become a best practice organisation and manage and lead a team of data management professionals to support development and maintenance of a modern data warehouse using Microsoft Azure technology.
  • You will represent Analysis and Performance in the development of a strategic master and reference data management capability for HMCTS and become the business owner for the management of this data and support the design and implementation of new data dictionary and data cataloguing tools for HMCTS, becoming the product owner for these tools.
