Job summary

The Data Assurance Officer supports the work of the UKRI-Department of Science, Innovation Technology’s (DSIT) International Funds Delivery Team by assisting reporting and data needs required to effectively manage the department’s International Research and Innovation Funds – International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF)Newton Fund, and Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). This includes funds financed by Official Development Assistance (ODA).

This role requires close working with colleagues in the International Funds Delivery team, the Data Monitoring and Evaluation team (DMEL), wider DSIT and Partner organisations (e.g. UKRI, National Academies, British Council. the Met Office etc.) to ensure data on funded activities and spend is captured in a timely and accurate manner to support the delivery of Government research and innovation priorities, to comply with UK and international legislation, and to respond to changing political environments.

Job description

  • Playing a leading role in the quarterly Quality Assurance of data reported by Partner Organisations who are delivering the funded activities.
  • Supporting reporting leads to meet ODA legal and transparency reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Providing analytical support for DSIT colleagues on Partner Organisation data (e.g., budgets, forecasts, actual spends etc.) across different platforms, including DSIT’s digital reporting service, RODA to assist with data requests.
  • Assisting the UKRI-DSIT International Funds Delivery team colleagues as needed to support partner organisations using and reporting into DSIT’s bespoke reporting service RODA. Including assisting with RODA system development and responding to reporting queries.
  • Working the Data, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (DMEL) team on data requests as required (e.g., government reports and commissions, governance papers, and Prime Minister’s questions).

Person specification

  • Experience of data validation, quality assurance and working with large data sets for policy development and publication.
  • Experience of data analysis across multiple data sets as well as data alignment and migration across software and platforms (Excel, XML).
  • Experience in qualitative interpretation of data.
  • Experience of supporting assurance and reporting activities in a multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder context.
