Job description

Support Officers enable the smooth running of the business by supporting wider colleagues deliver key business functions. You will be working in Customer Services Strategy and Transformation (CSST). The roles will offer an excellent opportunity to hone and develop your delivery skills. HEO Support Officers also enable the smooth running of our transformation programmes by supporting the operation of Project Management processes and the coordination of business management actions and activities.

Due to the nature of the role and business needs, this vacancy is not available for part-time working.

Person specification

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Preparing CSST material and reports, presenting statistics and researching new information. The HEO will ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently.
  • Handling and monitoring compliance of the key deliverables with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.
  • Handling workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the CSST leadership team.
  • Building professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners, and acting as lead point of contact for some external parties.
  • Drafting and presenting correspondence.
  • Contributing to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business cases.
  • Supporting and leading ad hoc project work and key high-profile Home Office as and when they arise.
  • Working on projects accountable for implementing and maintaining appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling
  • Supervising and Reporting and Admin.
  • Establishing and maintaining project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status.

Essential criteria

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with an understanding of the use of different channels and formats for different audiences.
  • Ability to be proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment, handling their own time and priorities optimally.
  • Strong social skills and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues at every level within an organisation.
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to form well thought out conclusions and recommendations.
  • Close attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to develop and implement effective administrative processes.

  • Working in a support environment or project/programme environment.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly knowledge of advanced Excel functions PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a consultative capacity across grades, providing guidance, support and challenge.
  • Self-motivated; working independently and with remote team members.
  • Resilient in flexing to a changing work environment to support team priorities.

Sift and Interview dates
