Job description

You will provide strong leadership to a team of Criminal Investigation Officers and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, such as the Police, Home Office and National Crime Agency, proactively seeking and analysing data and sharing information to identify fraud trends. You will present your findings verbally and in writing to working groups and boards comprising of a range of agencies.

Working collaboratively and independently, you will be entrusted with a high degree of responsibility as you take on this unique challenge.

While we welcome applicants who have already achieved a qualification in the Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist (ACFS) training programme at Specialist level, we are also willing to support the successful candidate to work towards this while in post.

Responsibilities  

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: 

  • Lead and oversee the strategic direction of the operational counter fraud (OFT) and incoming intelligence function, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for raising operational fraud awareness for agency staff through training and education.
  • Proactively engage and collaborate with internal, cross Government and UK wide stakeholders (including law enforcement agencies) to develop proactive counter fraud strategies and procedures to detect, prevent and investigate fraudulent activities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry partners, to gather intelligence and share information on fraud trends and threats ensuring OFT act on all intelligence.

Additional Information

This role will require you to work on-site at our Swansea office.

Person specification

You will have a passion and previous experience in fraud prevention and applying relevant legislation. This could be in any area of fraud.

You will bring an analytical mind, along with the ability to interpret data you have obtained to inform sound decision-making. You communicate and present confidently, engaging your audience and encouraging their interest, questions and feedback.

You can work strategically, providing direction to the Operations team to ensure they are focused on essential priorities. You are experienced in successfully leading teams through significant change.

It is essential that you possess a strong work ethic, excellent stakeholder management skills and can work collaboratively as well as independently. You are innovative, tenacious, and willing to persist in order to achieve results, understanding that the development of a robust fraud prevention strategy can take time and thorough research.
